First Friday Art Walk


Springfield First Friday Art Walk, a self-guided art gallery tour, 6 to 10pm downtown Springfield.   Features art, live music and hands-on-activities at several venues.   Exhibits remain at galleries through the month.  FREE!   For more information call 849-8255. 

 

 

Outdoor Fitness Festival Outdoor Festival Outdoor Days, Friday - Sunday, Lake Springfield.   James River Mountain Man Rendezvous will have an 1840's living history encampment.     Hands-on/assisted canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding, pontoon boat rides, fishing, trail walks and more.    Free, fee for some activities.   417-833-8647 or 417-833-8923.

 

Hunter Education, 6-9pm, Friday, 8am -5pm Satuday.    Springfield Conservation Nature Center Way.   This 10 hour course is required for anyone born after Jan. 1, 1967, who wants to hunt with a a fire arms in Missouri.    Students under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.    Adults 11-adult.    Register online.   417-888-4237

Moonshine Beach Branson, MO


Chances Cardboard Boat Race and Demolition Derby, 12:30pm, Saturday at Rock Lane Resort,611 Redbud Lane, Branson.    Barry Williams of the "Brady Bunch" television sitcom will co-host.   Boat registration will begin at 11am.   Proceeds will benefit developmentally disabled citizens of Stone County.   Entry fee: $50.   417-230-1123.

 

Clean Up on Taneycomo Lake Taneycomo-Shoreline Cleanup 9am - 1pm Saturday.  Volunteers will pick up trash along the lake.    Start at one of three locations:   Branson Lakeside RV Campground, Rockaway Beach , near Rainbow Haven Resort and Empire Park at Forsyth.   Registration:    417-739-4100.

 

Yoga on the Trail Fundraiser for Ozark Greenways, 9am to 1030am, satuday on the historic James River Bridge on Galloway Creek Greenway overlooking Lake Springfield.    Children ages 10 and younger are welcome with an adult.     Bring a yoga mat.   Limited parking, park on East side of the bridge, or at the Southwood Access Boat Ramp.   $15.     Rain date is Sunday.    www.ozarkgreenways.com

Bike Riding

Bike MS Ozark Ride, 2012.     Saturday and Sunday, starts in Clever with an overnight stay in Joplin.    417-268-9010.

Wilson's Creek National Battlefield's Moonlight Tour, 7pm to 10pm at the Battlefield, 6424 W. Farm RD. 182, Republic.   The tour features re-enacted scenes from the morning of the battle on Aug. 10, 1861.    Tours of 35 will begin at 7pm and continue every 15 minutes until 10pm.     Tickets are $6 and can be purchased at the visitor center or by mail for a limited time.    417-732-2662, ext 227.
