Are we having fun blogging yet?

The idea of blogging on a regular basis can be time consuming and a lot of work. Who wants to be stuck in front of a computer fighting to get out another post when there are more interesting things to do? Maybe the answer is not to give up on blogging, but to look at what we are doing instead.

I think it is safe to say that most of us just stumbled into blogging. We had no real direction on what to do, we just thought that blogging was a good idea and we started. There is nothing wrong with jumping in and getting started, but blogging can start to take its toll if it is not fun.

Some questions to ask yourself:

  • How can I do this to make it more interesting for me?
  • What topic would I rather be blogging about?
  • What are others doing that looks like fun?
  • Can I learn to do something in a different way?
  • Am I afraid to have fun?
  • Has blogging become more of less fun since starting?
  • What are my motives in blogging?
  • Am I getting fun results from blogging?

There are many reasons why we blog, it is up to each of us to decide if it is worth doing. That motivation may be financial, social, or even therapeutic; but having fun as an underlying motive can do a long way in our continued success.

Are you having fun yet?

Always have fun blogging and reading the posts.  I have so many ideas of posts I can't contain them all in my head but figured I would take a few days off after blogging a ridiculous amount of posts in my 1st two weeks.   This week has been so busy that I just had to take a day or two off...but the weekend is here and I am doing an Open House today and a great place to BLOG!

Good list of questions. There are days where writing a post can be a chore and other times it is fun.

I don't worry about posting a blog every day. 2-3 times a week is enough for me. I do sign in and comment on a few everyday. Too much GOOD info to let it go by!

Good morning Tom -

To answer your question is blogging working for me.... I have gotten several AR referrals from fellow Rainers and get many calls from my Localisms which opens the door for me to ask them are they needing a good Realtor® ME!  I have shown homes from my market reports too... which for the record I don't find fun doing (market reports) that is :)

Hope you have a great day... Almost time for me to show homes.

I try to have fun...mostly for me if it's not fun I try not to engage.  Life is too short.  Blogging has helped me develop writing skills, thinking skills and technical skills.  Not always fun but in the end now that I'm fairly good at it, it's easier.

Tom~ A big part of why I blog is the interaction.  I'm very disappointed when I write and only a few people comment.

Hi Tom, Like our friend, John above, I personally don't really like doing those Market Reports, but I have come to realize that it's these type of posts that the general public is looking for. Yes, I like to Blog for Fun, but I also need to Blog Business to keep that phone ringing.

Hi Tom:  I just took a break from all of the "Fun"!  I really got sick of it for awhile and also have been extra, extra busy so I just said heck with it for 30 days...but I was sure that I didn't lose my free Rainmaker status by going past that 30 days!

Tom, I learn a lot just looking at the way you are setup here in your blog. I used to get upset when it seemed like no one was reading my blogs based on the number of comments till one day I found out about the "traffic button" and was very pleased to see that many of my posts had over a thousand views. I was very happily surprised, just not everyone comments.
