Are we having fun blogging yet?
The idea of blogging on a regular basis can be time consuming and a lot of work. Who wants to be stuck in front of a computer fighting to get out another post when there are more interesting things to do? Maybe the answer is not to give up on blogging, but to look at what we are doing instead.
I think it is safe to say that most of us just stumbled into blogging. We had no real direction on what to do, we just thought that blogging was a good idea and we started. There is nothing wrong with jumping in and getting started, but blogging can start to take its toll if it is not fun.
Some questions to ask yourself:
- How can I do this to make it more interesting for me?
- What topic would I rather be blogging about?
- What are others doing that looks like fun?
- Can I learn to do something in a different way?
- Am I afraid to have fun?
- Has blogging become more of less fun since starting?
- What are my motives in blogging?
- Am I getting fun results from blogging?
There are many reasons why we blog, it is up to each of us to decide if it is worth doing. That motivation may be financial, social, or even therapeutic; but having fun as an underlying motive can do a long way in our continued success.
