Tulips, tulips everywhere

Good evening everyone-Tulips are a favorite flowers of gardeners. Once you start looking at the different varieties it is amazing how many there actually are. Red tulips are a favorite of many and I like them myself. A friend of mine loved purple. It was her favorite colors. Now I have quite a few red ones. I don't think I have purple but I will next year. There again I like the unique. These two just jumped off the page with beauty and color. The bad thing is that they don't last very long. I had some I planted last Fall that were short bloomers and others that lasted for several weeks. Now since these are new to me I will find out in the Spring whether they are short lived or bloom for several weeks. I am hoping for the latter.

Tulips are my favorite spring flower.  While I knew there were lots of varieties, clearly there are many more than I was aware existed.

For some reason, tulips bloom the first year in my garen and after that, they disapper.  Daffodils do well though.  I love these photos.

Hi Sharon, WOW, These are just beautiful. I love the Firewings but just imagine having all of them. Here is something you might not have know about tulips. It is one of the few flowers that continues to grow after it has been cut. They require daily cuttting if you want to keep them arranged. If you have a way to refrigerate them at night, they seem to last longer.

Hi Sharon, Tulips are so beautiful! I once ran a half marathon in Solvange, CA and they grow tulips there so it was so pretty even though it was really hilly. I remember the flowers more than the pain.

Roy-You are welcome. You have a great week as well.

Roger-They are in the top 5 fav for me. Now I am going to be like a kid waiting for Christmas waiting til all these bloom next year.

Jeanne and Ralph-They are cool and very pretty.

Susan-That is strange. I never heard of that happening unless where they were planted where it gets extra wet and they rot. Are they in the ground or a pot. I do know in a pot they will rot

Rebecca-Tulips is just one kind I will have but I am excited about what it will look like next Spring

Michael-Thank you.

Tammy-It takes some work but the results and benefits will be wonderful. I hope you do and then we get to see your garden.

William-When I saw the pic of those tulips I just had to order them. It will take a bit of planning as to where to put them and coordinate them with others. I know I have red ones and I think I order more and by grouping them together it will make them even better. I have ordered all of those and they will be coming next month so prep work is being done now. I did not now about tulips continuing to grow after they are cut. That is cool and I can store them in a fridge. I have one in my woman cave. Thank you for that info.

Kristin-Probably the beauty made you forget the pain.

Hi Sharon,

Those are spectacular colors on the tulip pictures. I adore tulips and remember my first half marathon was up in Solang, CA and although it was hilly, every field was filled with tullips. I had never seen so many and it was beautiful in the early morning too. Thanks for the memories.
