In February 2011, I wrote my entry to the contest which really got me thinking about going paperless. Placing that plan into action though, was sure harder than I thought. Buyers and Sellers still want paper copies.
I tried to break down the pros and cons of going paperless.
Pros: Saving paper, going green, saving ink and saving the high cost of ink and paper.
Cons: I had no back up if the electronic copy was ever lost. In addition I did not have it in my file when i needed it.
Fast forward a year and what have I accomplished. We only print 1 copy of our purchase and sales agreements, we only print one listing agreement and only 1 set of seller disclosures instead of the 5 sets of each we used to print.
Everything is scanned and sent to buyers, sellers and mortgage companies/banks. BUT what am i missing?
The answer is an easier way to do it. I will admit, I forgot about Docusign. Someone said I should be reminded many times each week by the ads sent through Active Rain. Again to be honest I see so many ads that I mentaly block them out becuase they are annoying. Now i can already hear the comments, this is not how you win a contest by forgetting about the sponsor?
However by the sponsor running this challenge, I have been able to read and learn more about DocuSign through fellow agents than I could have through the ads and blog posts they pay to feature.
I will be trying it and hope it is the answer I am looking for to mve forward to make my job easier and continue to save resources such as paper and ink. My Clients learn quickly that I am very involved in assisting them through each step of the buying and selling process, so anything that can assist the process is more then welcomed.
