Sometimes there are events that are permanently etched in our mind. We can always recall precisely where we were and what we were doing. The events of September 11, 2001 are in that category. I glanced at the TV set and said, "Arthur, I think you should come here and see this". Just then the second plane crashed into the World Trade Center.

As the events of the day unfolded we were overcome by two emotions - horror at the magnitude of the impending loss of life and a feeling of helplessness at our inability to be of assistance.

By evening the third emotion erupted - anger at the "animal" perpetrators who planned to kill innocent people.

Have you visited the 9/11 Memorial at the County Government Center? It memorializes all of the victims of the tragedy and will be well worth your time to visit and reflect.

Due to our proximity to the Pentagon the county is home to many who worked there on 9/11/2001. The memorial also honors the 21 of our residents who perished on that infamous day - their names are inscribed on the memorial

Nick  I hope you are right, but events do fade with time.  How many people remember and pause on  the events of 12/7/41

What a sad day that was. I still remember vividly exactly where I was when I first about it in disbelief.

Today, Dolores and I visited the National Museum of the Marine Corps and toured the special 9/11 exhibit.

Have an outstanding week and be sure to have your camera in hand to capture the special moments.

Appreciate all of the thoughts we all share on this day....   it's a good day to just think about those who lost their lives, and those who gave so much to help others unselfishly after......
