18 Comments on Lesson Learned From Mission Impossible (The original series)
ha ha - i love those old episodes - and I love the anology of relating it to our businesses. It really does feel like Misison Impossible sometimes, but we must find a way to make it a success. Good Luck to you Jim... I mean Mark. :) Shanna
they indeed are classics, and yes sometimes it seems a mission impossible that we make possible!
Thannk for reminding of the show. I did watch it when I was a kid. I can hear the theme song now.
Great way you connected Mission Impossible with real estate Mark, love the analogy. Imagine Cinnamon Carter on your team.
I have only seen the newer movies. I think I may have to dig up some old episodes to experience them for myself.
Mark, I have the DVD boxed set of this series. A great program and a great analogy.
Mark- congrats on the feature and a great analogy! Have to admit while MI was a favorite show of mine all I remember is Fury's owner/ Reverend Camden on Seventh Heaven as playing the leader. I'll have to watch the first season.
This was one of my favorite shows. If gave the person the option to accept the mission or not, then he took the mission with gusto.
Good morning Mr. Phelps...Loewenberg...A notorious buyer is trying to take over your section of the city using counterfeit bills and phony loan docs. He has bought up several counties already. He needs to be stopped. Your mission is to sell him a piece of property, let him think he swindled you and then reveal he really holds title on swampland in Tallahassee Florida...Remember, if you or the title or escrow department gets caught, the department of Real Estate will disavow any knowledge of this transaction. Good luck Mark....da da...da da da...da da...da da da da..da da da da...key the flute
I remeber those, too. Great "game plan" Thanks.
glad we were able to bring back memories for a lot of you and yes every buyer/seller/advocate it is a mission and it is our choice to accept (or not), yes sometimes the best deals are the ones we walk away from too!
Good luck on all of you missions today and thank you for commenting!
Mark:
I had forgotten that Jim Phelps was not the original leader on Mission Impossible. Nice comparison with the way you work real estate.
yes Jim is a classic too but Dan was a great leader during the first season. funny how it turned into a fun real estate analogy by accident last night when I was watching!
Good analogy! I also love that show. I think it is one of the series when Tom Cruise does his best.
What a great platform to create a plan! My old favorite is the Twilight Zone and as a treat I bought myself the entire set a few years ago. With the way the lending industry has changed the flow of a transaction, I can make some comparisons using that, too!
Mark, you must be older than I am. Ha-ha. I never knew their was a leader before Jim Phelps. Isn't interesting how fiction can apply to life?
will have to catch up on twilight zone and see what parallels are there... after all we are in a zoned out industry sometimes!
and yes the very first season had Dan Briggs but he did not continue due to a religious conflict where he would not work the hours that they asked of him.. too bad he was really good but I totally appreciate his honor.
Mark,
I remembered loving the series when I was young...hmmm...I was in my early teens. I didn't watch the entire series until 40+ years later and remembered every episode had a message and most of them were actually positive life lessons about what was and was not important. Don't we learn something on every transaction? The first few dozen are a "year in a month" and as you get more experience the lessons come more slowly but really never stop. Pretty cool!
