Lafayette is Going Green

The City of Lafayette is working hard to become a more sustainable community, to reduce their carbon foot-print.  Many residents are starting to seek out he most green businesses and services in town.  The Lafayette Chamber of Commerce has created a new "Green Committee" with the goal to help identify easy steps that local businesses can take to be more sustainable.  Approximately 20 interested businesses and/or interested parties showed up at the 1st meeting.  The next meeting will be January 30th at noon, Lafayette Chamber office. 

Sustainable Lafayette success stories about residents and local businesses that have adopted green practices are being published at http://www.sustainablelafayette.net/businesses/.  This is an excellent way others in the community can learn and be inspired by what others have achieved.

The city of Lafayette is currently collecting nominations for the new "Lafayette Green Award" which will recognize outstnading efforts during 2007 that contributed to a  ore sustainable community and helped the city achieve its environmental goals.
