4 Comments on Could There Be New Lights Shining at the Doraville GM Plant?
THom - it would be good news for everyone in that area if the deal would close. I hate to say it, but GM has been very tough to deal with. We have a GM plant just a few miles south of Franklin that is the most efficient plant that GM has ever had. They shut it down in 2008 and moved the production to Michigan in a political game at the cost of over $1,000,000,000. Of course they didn't care about the money, we were the ones who got stuck with the bill in the foreclosure. They had a chance to sell the plant when Volkswagen decided to move to Tennessee, nbut once again, they really weren't interested in the money. It seems that money and making a profit are very far away from the thoughts of GM management, so good luck getting this deal done.
Maybe if Obama doesn't get reelected, GM will actually be run by business people instead of friends of the president.
Thom, wouldn't this be great for the area!
Larry: I try to look on the positive side, but the Tarrytown Plant is still sitting there and I think it closed TEN years ago....let that not happen to us.
This is an incredible site with a MARTA train station, 2 major freeways and the second busiest airport in all of Georgia surrounding it....
Cindy: There is actually a lot of construction going on in Atlanta....no condos, and it may be that way for a while which will help move prices in the right direction.
Connie: I'm sure it would help my property values. I live about a mile from the site and can walk there!
