This is a duplex or is it. There are two meters, two distint living area, separate entrances, gee, it smells like a duplex, looks like a duplex, has all the attributes of a duplex.
Isn't it interesting that the city of Oakland thinks it needs a new permit to keep it a duplex even though a couple years ago it would have been considered grandfathered and this would be a non issue.
The new issue is that NOW they need to send the
fire department out to see that there is a 24' wide access road to get their equipment up to the house. Gee, it is wide enough for a SFR fire truck but not a duplex fire truck apparently.
We all need to survive this "non recession" not just the cities.
What does this duplex have in common with the next building?
This was a warehouse that residential land uses had encroached over a period of years until it was the only ware house on the block.
It was a great choice to make "live work". When I stopped by the other day to take the photo I noticed the door open and the owners were sitting there and remembered me, calling me out by name.
Wonderful to see they had an idea, ran with it, and are still using it many years later the way they had intended.
This and the photo above are both considered duplexes.
Hard to believe this home in SF attached on two sides has anything in common with the duplexes above. mmm, what could it be?
Lets do one more then we'll see what it is...
Now you are totally confused right?
Not to worry they are all FHA 203k projects. I know, you had already guessed that, right?
