Last week my preacher asked if anyone would like to go with him to Slidell, Louisiana to assist hurricane victims. Another guy and myself volunteered and we left Sunday after church and came back last night.

For the entire 3 days I was on the end of a chainsaw cutting trees that had either fallen on people's houses or just in their yard. I believe we must have cut between 15-20 trees with some as big around as 4 feet.

Now for the God story. We were looking for this lady's house and stopped at a guy's house across the street from the house we were looking for. There was a guy there sitting on a stump with a tree lying across his trailer house. He was just sitting there with a hatchet(not an axe) just chopping on a log about 3' in diameter.

We asked him if he needed help and he grinned and said I thought you would never get here. We got out 3 chainsaws and got to work. We had that tree off his house and cut up in about an hour. When he finished he told us he has been reading a book titled "the saving life of Christ" by Major W. Ian Thomas. He also told us he has been praying for the Lord to send him some help and he also said he told the Lord as an act of faith he would sit outside with that hatchet hacking on that log. He told us the Lord sent us to him and I have no doubt about that after hearing what he said.

Here is a link to Amazon and that book that the guy mentioned up above. I have not bought it yet but I plan to.

Thanks for helping fellow Louisianians. Even a "small" storm leaves plenty of damage in its wake.

Activating faith! I love it and his response to you. There is faith and then there is activating that faith. Just like that scene in Facing the Giants, which farmer had more faith, the one who prayed for the rain to come or the one who prayed and then plowed, preparing his fields for it?

We all need to serve! What a moving story of faith. God doesn't promise us we won't have problems in life but he does promise us answers!
