Live action, under the lights… college football is starting in Brevard County this weekend! That’s right, Florida Tech’s new football team will be playing their first intrasquad scrimmage at 7pm on Saturday night, September 15th, at the Palm Bay High School stadium. And, if you want to get even more Florida Tech football action, there will be a free pep rally, open to the public, on Friday, September 14th at the Clemente Center on the Florida Tech campus in Melbourne.
As a lead up to Florida Tech football team’s first of four intrasquad scrimmages, the pep rally will feature giveaways, prizes, free food, games, and music from KISS 95.1FM and Florida Tech’s Pep Band. Additionally, Florida Tech’s football uniforms will be unveiled during the pep rally, and attendees will have the opportunity to meet the Florida Tech football staff and players. The pep rally will take place on Friday, September 14th from 3:30 – 5:00 pm at Florida Tech’s Clemente Center, which is located at the corner of University Drive and Babcock Street in Melbourne.
On Saturday night, Florida Tech’s football team, which has been practicing since mid-August, will take to the field to square off in their first intrasquad scrimmage at Palm Bay High School at 7 pm. The team will play three more scrimmages this fall, all at Palm Bay High, and all open to the public and free to attend. The Florida Tech Panthers football team is using this season to prepare for their inaugural season in 2013, in which they will compete as a football-only member of the Division II Gulf South Conference.
This is a big weekend for our community – live college football in Brevard County, FL with the beginning of Florida Tech’s football program… now that is something to get excited about! Looking forward to next year and watching Florida Tech play its first regular season game against Stetson University in September 2013!
