Kristin,
We love koi fish, and we had two ponds on our property in Los Angeles' Westside. The first become the feeding troth of owls and other birds of prey and the second PH was consistently off, and we would have floaters...so the ponds got planted over with a wonderful Meyer Lemon tree...A
Hi Alexandra,
I can see that happening more than not but my clients think it is the best thing and didn't mention anything about the water levels. They found a "How To" article and made the cover consisting of wood trim and mesh screen and just cover it nightly. I guess if you forgot a few nights, it could become an empty pond. I just love to go and visit and see their yard and this beautiful fountain. The Koi are so big!
What a serene addition. Our resort on Maui had this huge Koi pond, a lake almost, and every morning on the way to breakfast by the palm trees I'd watch the little guys. They were huge!!
Hi Kerrie,
Yes I agree they are so nice to watch and they never fight and live for a long time too. I want to go to Hawaii next summer as I have traveled many places but never to Hawaii. My hubby always schedules some other place and I keep saying Hawaii. I am going next summer with him or without him!
FYI- Just voted for George today. I vote every day!
Very nice photos Kristin. I have heard from others about their disappearing Koi fish, I guess you have got to be careful. Thanks for sharing.
Kristen - I also have a neighbor with a delightful koi pond. I am always amazed at how friendly the fish have become. Especially at feeding time.
Hi Krisitin, most of the Chinese buffet restaurants use Koi for decoration and good feng shui.
Hi Kwee,
I knew about the restaurants using the Koi fish in their ponds but did not know that it makes for good feng shui. I am glad to know that.
Kristin, we have homes with Koi ponds here. In the winter the ponds freeze and the koi hibernate or enter some sort of dormant period at the bottom of the ponds.
Hi Mona,
I did not know that and it is a fascinating fact. Thanks for sharing that. Have a great weekend.
