What is Your KLOUT Score.....and is it Important?
Meet Joe Fernandez, CEO of Klout who was interviewed on Sept 12, 2012 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco at the ‘Three Days of the Valley’ Tech Event.
Joe Fernandez started by trying to make sense and to understand Facebook and Twitter and says the idea of influence on the web has become very critical. He explained that Klout is a critical component of how we communicate with others. The score goes from 1-100 and it measures the on-line users influence with others. Fernandez says “Your influence on the web is so important and now loan companies and perspective employers are looking at your Klout score”. He did stress the point that employers do look at other important factors such as job skills and resumes but that a higher Klout score is a good indicator that this person has an influential presence to others and could have a positive effect on their company if hired.
He also explained it is not big your network is but how engaged your influence and interaction is when you share content.
Recently they had to redesign their system since it was became known that Justin Bieber had a higher score than the President of the United States so now some outer experiences can now affect your score if you are in the public’s eye.
Starbucks is going to be testing a new drink so they recently asked Klout for a list of their high scorers . So you never know what perk a high Klout score can get you. Plus Klout gives perks for increasing your score as well. Check out the site for the details of this at www.klout.com/.
I have a Klout score and it has been slowly rising monthly for the past few months. Does Klout seem to work? It seems to show that you are getting your message out and influencing others. Klout does seem to be a positive feature so I plan to keep watching my score and trying to raise my score.
What is Your KLOUT Score.....and is it Important? What do you think?

Kristin actually I don't pay attention to this and many other things that are 'out there'. There is just so much time in the day and I've only 30 hours per day as it is!
And here it is, another website that I have no experience with or heard of. Thanks!
Hi Anna,
I know we just can't do everything but I signed up a few months ago and I like to see them send me the email that my score is rising. I do not have to do anything except get on some social media sites sometimes. Have a great weekend.
Hi Kathy,
I have been a Klout member for about 6 months. You sign up in 5 minutes for free and give them several links to FB and TWitter and Google+ if you can figure out your link for Google+ as I can't. But anyway they just send you an email periodically and tell you what your score it. I like it as it keeps me blogging and interacting on FB and TW, Today I saw an interview with this Joe Fernandez and thought it would be good to blog about.
Kristin, now that it's easy to 'create' technology and implement for all possible industries, to me, it seems many of us are targetting Real Estate to get best bang for their buck! Not that Klout is bad, it's just one more thing that one nneds to 'learn' and do I need to say we are a little bit slow learner....lol.
Thanks for the post on Klout. I signed up on it last year sometime. It may actually take hold but probably still in its infancy. I do know this. I train the agents in my market center on all things technology and Social Media etc (500 agents) and I have enough trouble getting them to send out campaigns and to blog!!! I think technology is good as long as agents remember to focus on 'the business' they are in -...some agents are experts in Social Media but can't fill out a contract to save their life!!! But i appreciate the Tech updates because I have to stay on top of them!!! Thanks for the post!!!
Mine is going down recently - and not sure what I need to do to bring it as high as Chris Smith!
Too much of social media....not sure where it will end!
Hi Praful,
Mine went down last month so I am getting back to posting on Google+ FB and TW from Activerain. The score only goes up if someone comments.
Kristin: KLOUT Scores? Sheesh. Just one more thing that someone invented/dreamed up. And Joe Fernandez is the CEO.
I am just sitting here shaking my head. I am guessing that dear Mr Fernandez is hoping that someone will make him an offer for his "invention" that will be way more than it is worth... and then he can go out and come up with something else he can be CEO of.
Is it important? It's hard to say. My score has been hovering between 47-53.
Hi Carolyn,
I know it is always something new but I do enjoy watching my score move up and down. It knows when I am ignoring my socail media sites.
Hi Michelle,
My score is at 49 right now so I need to doing more. When I get the email once a month, it motivates me to get on the ball and interact.
