Crystal Beach Florida does NOT have a public doggie beach and the local authorities are cooperating with our community in getting the word out.
Unfortunately, some Realtors have actually posted in their multiple listing comments that Crystal Beach has a public doggie beach and people from neighboring communities can come here and let their dogs run freely along the beach and in Live Oak Park. That is NOT the case and both the Sheriff's Department and Animal Control have been patrolling our beaches (at the request of Crystal Beach residents) to enforce this.
The beach at Crystal Beach is for our residents and their guests. There is also a dog leash law and signage reminding people that they must keep their dogs on a leash AND pick up after their pets. There are signs and containers with plastic bags as well as trash containers for the bags after use.
We are fortunate to have a beautiful beach as well as meandering streets and paths winding along the waterfront for residents to take leisurely walks with and without their pets. The last thing we want is car loads of people and pets coming from other areas and those people allowing their pets to run freely here in Crystal Beach. Many of these large dogs have actually run up to little children and scared them while others have chased golf carts (golf carts are allowed as a means of transportation throughout Crystal Beach on our streets). This is a small community with a small beach for local residents.
Many local county parks have specific doggie areas and this information is available on the county website for the various parks, such as Anderson Park in Tarpon Springs and John Chesnut Park in Palm Harbor. Honeymoon Island State Park, off Dunedin Causeway, has a public doggie beach. Please help us get the word out that the beach and park at Crystal Beach Florida are NOT a public doggie recreation areas and that local authorities ARE enforcing this.
