Pirates Cove Restaurant Garibaldi Oregon

One of the coastal places I have often visited is Rockaway Beach Oregon. A few miles away is another little haven, Garibaldi. And just as you enter it, driving south on Highway 101, is a restaurant called Pirates Cove. The hours vary, but if you are willing to work with that, then you will find one of the best meals with stunning views that you can ask for along the Oregon Coast.

 Pirates Cove Garibaldi Oregon

A single owner, Rick Rogers, works his butt off along with his daughter, Haley. I figure there’s a cook in the back, but these two do everything else at Pirates Cove.  You get a slew of choices from breakfast to dinner. Prices range from $5-$16 for a HUGE breakfast with all the usual fare, from omelets to French toast, but also offers fresh caught fish, really yummy fruit (I suggest the side of fruit with breakfast—it’s enough to take home) and portions to make a traveler happy and full.

Lunch, which is what my husband and I had ranges from $3.75-$18, and once again, big portions, nice fresh fish choices….and wine! I had the blackened sea bass, along with a caesar dinner salad and a glass of Toasted Head chardonnay, their house white, which is nice and buttery with that oak barrel-aged taste…you can get it at Trader Joe’s.

Dinner at Pirates Cove can be everything from oyster shooters for $2.50 to Maine Lobster for $45.

The priceless item? THE VIEWS. Fabulous.

The day we were there, it started to fill up and as we sat there watching the boats on the water, some of the customers started talking about what looked like fire on the water! It was so odd.

I decided to take pictures. We all conferred with each other as well as asking the owner and his daughter. What could it be?  Then we saw a helicopter flying over it.

As it turns out, it was most likely the National Guard (according to what we could surmise from the owner’s information) doing some practice runs in rescue attempts. It was quite far away, but someone noticed that there was a person who jumped into the water and it also looked like some rescue watercraft was lowered. It was all very exciting to watch while we ate—dinner AND a show!

Hours are: Monday-Tuesday-noon-9pm

Wednesday-Saturday-8am-9pm

Sunday-8am-8pm

Hi GF! First, your photos are gorgeous! Second..........can we go there when I visit?! I was showing Marty and Brian photos of Fishhawk Lake and they couldn't believe how beautiful it is. Now all I keep hearing is, "You're so lucky you're going to Fishhawk Lake..." as if they've already been there, lol. Mouth watering food, stunning views and an air show - what more could you ask for!

Sheila, my favorites are their breakfasts...but you need a completely empty tummy--'cause it's a lot of food!

Oh, Roger, I can't wait to show the rest of the photos I took at the viewpoint right next door. It was a "picture perfect" day.  I hope they like the post.

Kris~of COURSE we can go there!  I just heard from Mimi yesterday and she's gonna try to swing it, too! Look for an e-mail from me with packing ideas....can't WAIT!!!

I love local spots like this!  You can't beat those views and the food/drink sound really nice.  This reminds me of a place my family goes to in Santa Cruz - right on the water.

I love Garibaldi and next time you are up that way, don't forget to look up our Geocache that we placed somewhere near there. (Can't tell you exactly where, that is your job)

Gayle:  Your great review of Pirate's Cove makes me want to hop in my car (or boat??) and head-off to get a meal ... all the way from Illinois!  Great food, beautiful sccenic views, friendly owners and help, AND Coast Guard entertainment makes the drive sound very worthwhile and exciting!

Bryan, there have been so many wonderful "local" places that my husband and I enjoyed on our week's vacation along the Oregon coast that I went a bit crazy on the drive home. This was just a small sample of all the shots I took in a span of only 3 hours!

Betty, thanks for the thumbs up on the pics...it was a no-brainer with such a stunningly beautiful day on the Oregon coast.

Yes, Matie (female pirate!!), looks like Kris has put in her order for one meal at Pirates Cove. It's not that far from Cannon Beach when we went the last time. Maybe dinner?  (I don't think we'd make it for breakfast without starving).

Shane, I made Sheila's mouth water and so it's only fitting that someone else should be smacking their lips over these delicacies!

Chuck, I love that bucket list item being added--good! Highway 101 that goes along the coast from Washington state down through California is an incredibly amazing journey--if you take your time.

Ginger, you might just have to hop a flight and come with the rest of the Rainers who want to head this direction!

Todd...I'm at a total loss as to how to do a geocache THHHHAAAANG. But, it sounds like the galpals from AR who are coming to Fishhawk next week might be up for it if any one of them knows how to find it! (It's Mel P and Debb J, Kris G and hopefully Mimi F....and thanks to our Portland Meetup last year, Debb and Mel have become dear friends).

Gene, not only were the views spectacular, but we all felt like we were seeing something quite special with our military exercises going on during our meal.

Tom~heck, I MOVED out here from Philly without even having a place to live!  It's only a plane ride away!

Wow what a fantastic place. If I'm ever in that neck of the woods, I'll make it a point to stop by (after checking their hours of course).
