Michelle: When I moved to Eugene, I found it fascinating that there were so many neighborhoods with their own characteristics and identities.  There's even a Friendly Area Neighborhood.  It's not named because of the residents' disposition, but for a much-loved 19th century mayor named Samson H. Friendly.
