Rosh Hashanah is the beginning of the Holy High Holidays in the Jewish faith, which is a 10 day period of reflection and repentance before Yom Kippur.


During the 10 days of repentance from Rosh Hashanah to Yom Kippur, Jewish believers ask forgiveness from those they may have wronged, and atone for sins committed throughout the year so that they can be inscribed in the Book of Life. The point is to start the new year with a clean slate.


What a wonderful thing, to ask everyone you may have wronged for forgiveness, and to start your new year with a clean slate. I wish all my Jewish friends a very sweet New Year!

Hi Patty,

Great post about the Jewish Holiday. I too have friends of many faiths and respect theirs and they respect mine. I like what you said about clearing the slate. Sometimes it is hard but a very good idea.
