THE RAMBLER - ONE STORY LIVING IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA. One story living doesn't have to be in a 55+ seniors community. Many home buyers are seeking homes with no steps to the bedroom areas. Some have small children and prefer the absence of steps.

RAMBLERS ARE POPULAR WITH ALL AGES. The one story home was always popular with home owners until the price of land reached the highs during the 1980, making the Rambler more expensive to build and requiring a higher retail price for home buyers. The reasons Ramblers are more costly to build include the more expensive foundation costs, higher roofing costs, etc.

Conrad. None. Depends on where the folks come from. In western states they're called Ranch Homes. In the east, they're usually called Ramblers.

Jay. Leesburg has some very nice neighborhoods and they are all convenient to services.

Ginny. I hear it regularly here. Only when someone is coming from another area do they ask for "ranch".

Good morning, Lenn.... the phrase "rambling ranch" was used years ago whenever I listed an oversized ranch style home..... I wish there were more of them but they're so expensive to build, builders won't do it on speculation.... it's cheaper to build up rather than out... foundationsa and roof systems are expensive.... sorry for "rambling"

We do have a large number of great communities build in the 1960-1985 time frame.

More builders are incorporating Ramblers in their portfolio today.
