Ever spent the time to upload a video to a video site and end up with only a few dozen views in the first months?

http://vidlisting.com/ within the past few days surpassed one million real estate videos viewed (over 80% of those views were property videos). Until today, all of the content was filmed exclusively by Vidlisting.

As Chicken Little says, "today is a new day". Vidlisting has just opened the same very effective video distribution system to agents, builders, and professional videographers that film their real estate video content (property videos, podcasts, and interviews).

It is hard to generate leads without prospective buyers watching your video. Youtube and the other video services (even those supposedly focused on real estate video) are not invested in helping you market and distribute your videos. Do dozens of views really represent investment? Now instead of dozens of views, you can receive thousands of video views from buyers and investors throughout the world that form the cornerstone of being able to generate leads.

Membership in Vidlisting's Club Real Estate Video has a number of levels based on your needs, desires, and budget. They range from free to paid...all provide a level of distribution unmatched by other video upload sites.

The full announcement is on our outside blog: http://forsalebylocals.wordpress.com/2008/01/19/now-available-for-those-that-make-real-estate-videos-and-want-them-watched (along with a special blog only offering)

Wow. woke up to a featured post.  Thank you AR featured post gods!

Brian:  Great!

Lupe: greetings right back at 'cha!

Libby:  It isnt hard to compare our video view numbers with other site.  Key point - look at the property video views...other types of videos aren't prospective buyers

Ryan: Thanks and welcome.

Jon: we are *always* available to field questions. Video can seem a bit complex at times but there are a number if things that can be done to simplify parts of the process.

Rosemary: we have both free and paid programs. The free program is great for those that just have a video or two to post.

Mohamed: Thank you for the compliments

Margaret: We'd love to help you get a larger audience for the videos that you are creating. Our average video gets around 1000 video views the first month. It isnt uncommon to have over 5000 video views for a property video using our video distribution system.

This service has potential for sure!

I posted on your other blog , but will repeat below as it may just provide a tip or two to interested agents...

Plays back just fine with almost no buffering ( im on a 512mbps connection from Dubai, UAE)

Just a couple of observations if you like:
- The videos are encoded very intelligently - i.e I can see that just a hint of pixelating, but yet the videos manage to play smoothly

-Maybe using fades between scenes is not a good idea, as there's artefacts showing up during the transition

- Some interlace artefacts are visible, should be de-interlaced before encoding.

I supposed this should be advice for the end clients and not the service provider itself.

Wish you every success!
Regards.

I really enjoyed this post. My plan is to attempt the videos this year. Any advice on the right video recorder that is not going to break my small budget? I'm going over to check out your website.

Lizette: If you already have a minidv video camera, you are all set for most basic property shoots. We outlined some easy tricks to get the most out of what most people already have over on a different blog post entitled A Few Tips And Techniques To Make Great Property Videos On The Cheap

Since I dont know your budget I wont make any specific recommendations.  My advice would be to try to find a  minidv camera with a firewire connector (look on ebay or other places online if a new one isnt in your budget).  You should be able to find something in the $100-$125 range (used) to the $200 range (low end new).  I'm still not a big fan of most camera phone video.

If you dont already have a camcorder, it might help to know that just about any major brand camcorder will shoot decent video under well-lit conditions. The differences are only in really how the technology handles non-perfect situations and the extra functionality made available to help make non-perfect situations easy.  The key then for low budget videographers is to make the most of the things that have no cost - like lighting. I've seen amazing video from people with very inexpensive cameras.

Hope that helps

That was perfect. I haven't purchased my camera yet. I'll look around on Ebay and see what I can come up with. Thanks!
8:39am • #20

Yes and most importantly:

Do get a tripod. Even a basic one as long as it has a smooth turning head will do.

Creating Property Videos is not that intimidating (don't let the Pros tell you otherwise),

hmm, I better save this for a small blog post! :-)

But to emphasize again, a folding tripod is a must for good video. they don't weigh that much.

Thanks for the info in the comment back to Lizette.  I don't have a video camera as yet either, but will be looking to add that to my repertoire this year as well.  And thanks for the info on this site - I'll be checking it out.

Lizette:  I'm glad that I coud help.  I'm always available for questions.

Clydd:  Yes, agreed about the tripod...even the cheap ones work fine.

Sean: Spot on! We've been focused on aligning our goals with what makes sense for helping people sell houses.  That means the first step is to build consistent views with prospective buyers as part of the views=>leads=>sales cycle.  If the views for a property video arent coming from prospective buyers, they aren't doing anyone any good!

Ann:  We've also just crossed 800,000 property video views out of that million total views so I hope that means that we are doing something right with property videos!

Dick: Our system will let you build custom widgets after uploading your video (you can even a bar with 5 videos that can be configured horizontally or vertically for your blog or website).  Feel free to compare us with any other video service in terms of ease of use and video views.

Love the feature for other languages.  Is there an option that puts up the commentary for those who are hearing impaired?

Lisa and Robert: the transcript can be embedded with the video.  Example: link to real estate video

Look just below the languages under the video where it says , "[+/-] Transcript"  The text is indexed by Google whether or not it is viewed.

Thanks for the information!  But one quick question, i see that there is a free level in which we can post our videos, but where/how? I don't see it. Thanks!  ~Lorrie

I finally was able to click on the "go to step 2" button, but it didn't work.  :(

I'd really like to try this out, but maybe the bugs aren't worked out of the beta system yet? or maybe just internet issues with the site. Please let me know. Thanks.

Say Tony... decided to try uploading a video and it won't work.  Have tried Firefox and Safari, and after slogging through 3 pages of text entry, I ALWAYS receive an error message and cannot continue.  Tried it yet again the other day (5th try) and it's still doing it.

Moriah:  We both make videos and distribute them. We are shifting more to the distribution side as the functionality of our custom distribution platform reaches completion.

Give me a call at 360-362-1032 and I can explain how simple it all is  :)

I've tried several times to upload videos to this site.  It's riddled with bugs and I've been 100% unsuccessful.

Dear Anonymous Marc

We track information about every upload into our platform (even when they fail - that's helped us track down even the smallest bugs in our system) - we have been doing that tracking for over a year now.

That said, we haven't had any recent upload failures for uploads completed via http://upload.vidlisting.com or any of our customer sites that have their own branded upload mechanism.  I'd be more than happy to cross reference any attempts that you made against our upload database or even against our server logs for that page.

Of course, you'd have to stop being anonymous to do that and that may not reflect your true intent. We have a number of ways to file bugs, complaints, or to contact us on the Vidlisting site - its odd that you would choose this particular forum to anonymously voice them. We also have not had a member named Marc join or even enter the member area of the site in the last 8 months.

Anyway, I'll hold out hope that you'll email me at tony@vidlisting.com with some data about your issue with uploads.

Warmest regards

Tony
