If you are in the Sacramento area, you are probably familiar with the wonderful music department at California State University Sacramento.  Periodically, Kawai America Corporation provides the university quality new pianos, including baby grands, parlor grands, uprights, consoles, and performance level electronic pianos.

Every now and then, Cal State Sacramento offers some of those pianos to the public for sale at significantly reduced prices, as they are provided new pianos.

September 30, 2012 is one of those times!  The university's faculty, staff, students and "friends" of the music department will get first choice by appointment before September 30, and then there will be an open public sale of the rest, which will also include a few factory crated new pianos.  All of the pianos offered have been professionally maintained and most include the ten year manufacturer's warranty.

My husband and I are considered friends of the music department (on their mailing list) so we have received notice of this sale before the general public.  I thought I'd pass this information on to others who are interested in music - and who would like the opportunity to purchase a fine piano.

If you want to make a Preview Appointment before the public sale, you can call them at (916) 278-1990.  At this appointment you can inspect and immediately purchase your piano.  This will guarantee that you get the one you want because the public sale will be on a first come basis.

If you are unable to make an early appointment, the general public sale will be held on Sunday, September 30 from noon to 5 pm at the Department of Music, State University Drive West to the Sinclair Entrance Parking Garage on the campus.

I just bought a piano not long ago or I would be heading down there myself. 

Kim - If Sacramento is too far from wherever you live, check wiht the music department of the university nearest to you and see if they have a similar program.

I still have my piano from my childhood days.  My mother saved money from babysitting to provide it for me, back in the late 1950s.  Your post reminds me it is time to have it tuned once again!
