Christmas Cards for the Troops
Yes, I know, it's only September but it is not too early to start thinking about Christmas for our troops who are stationed overseas, many of them in harms way and all of them separated from their families and loved ones.
A friend of mine shared some information about two military support groups that send out cards and care packages to our troops in just those places to give them a little bit of home for the holidays.
These groups are volunteer groups and you can help them in achieving their goals.
1. The South Washington County Military Support Group says this about themselves:
"We gather as a support group to offer each other moral support, exchange information and promote awareness about our local military. We support all our BRAVE men and women in all branches of the service."
Whether you have a family member in the military stationed overseas or whether you want to help to brighten someone elses day, the South Washington County Military Support Group has a great website with information on how to go about both.

2. The Marine Moms of Bethesda also have a great thing going.
They are sending cards to wounded soldiers stateside and overseas. This is what they say:
"It’s that time of year and Marine Moms-Bethesda is gearing up for “Holiday Cheer” at Walter Reed and Richmond!"
How can you participate? You can sponsor stockings or you can write cards (no glitter please, it could harm the wounded). Their website explains how you can get involved! .
