Well let me try this out ... IMSD says to write my story about how I got into Real Estate. And so here it is ... Like it or comment on it if you want!
Few years back while I lived in the States, I needed to buy a house, as I did not want to rent any more. The Real Estate agent that I found was through a friend of mine & she highly recommended this lady. Probably in her mid-fifties, Melanie met me at my door step and away we went on an interesting trip of finding a home for me.
During the time that we drove around, looked at different houses, she gave me tour of the neighborhoods & narrated interesting stories about almost every house on the block. She knew the place like the back of her hand! I was amazed!
Remember I have a background in Interior Design, with 15 years experince designing interiors. So I just ate up every single word she said and was totally indulging into this interesting journey of searching a home for my family & me. I remembered every house we visited, how the layout was, color of the walls, interesting features, price point, etc etc. When we went by a house we already visited, & I narrated the details, it was her turn to be amazed! She was impressed with me more & more while I was impressed with her. She was ready to make me her assistant!!
After a week of these afternoon trips where she picked me up, we visited 4-5 houses every day, and all the interesting narration we finally found a home for myself. Melanie & me became friends, we went to the pub together, we went to watch shows together & not long after that I started training under her, as her assistant. When time was coming close for me to move back to Vancouver, I started the Real Estate Course online through the University of British Columbia, moved to Vancouver, passed my exam, obtained my Licence, & today I am a Professional Real Estate Consultant operating out of Coquitlam. I love this job and love selling Houses and helping friends, family & my clients buy Homes!
