Animoto for Android.
Good news for those of you who are not in the iPhone user category. When I wrote a post about Videolicious software for iPhone users - "Think of if as Animoto on the Go," many of you lamented that there wasn't an equivalent for Android. Well, now there is!
If you're a regular reader of my posts, you likely know I am not a huge fan of the concept of Videolicous and Animoto. (They are templates.) However, I do recognize that they occasionally have their place in our video marketing efforts. The post Animoto Videos for Real Estate touches on that topic.
Therefore today, YouTube Thursdays highlights Animoto for Android. The good news, Android users can finally start creating videos entirely on their mobile devices. The new app for the basic software is FREE and can be downloaded at Google play.
The free Animoto app lets you choose a background theme and music, next, you add video, photos and text, click the create button and voila - you have a 30 second video. Currently, there are two options for the Animoto app for Android users - free and plus accounts.
Free: Limit of 12 items - makes a 30 second video.
Plus : $2.50 month for 1 year: Unlimited length.
Note - The Android App requires Android 2.2 or higher, and at least 20Mb of available internal storage. Devices must support h.264 encoded video.
There is also an Animoto App for iPhone users. By the way, Animoto now lets you preview the video before it is produced. Remember, a montage of still photos is a slide-show, video is comprised of clips showing action, often with a few still photos added for interest.
If you want to take video marketing to the next level for branding purposes and to make connections with prospective clients ( and I hope you do), the best way to accomplish that is by producing your own videos. Be sure to sign up for Craig Daniels course, "Video Essentials for Your Business."

Morning Debb...I didn't know about Youtube Thursdays, great topic and I am sure I will learn alot from you!
Hi Debb. Thanks for the info. I believe Craig Daniels course sounds like a plan for me!
Fernando, glad you're producing some videos and having fun with it...when you're ready to kick it up a notch, check out Craig's Class - Video Essentials for your Business. :)
Kristin - great to have you as part of our group. You'll make a wonderful new member.
Good Morning, Debb. I just recently signed up for that Basic Animoto account with my Desktop, and now, I see I can download it to my Android phone as well. This may be just the tool I need to help me make more videos on the Go. Thanks for Sharing. Suggested!!
Hi Debb - That sounds like a useful tool for people with good eyesight. I can't imagine doing much on my phone beyond talking on it, since the iPad is sitting right next to it and I can see stuff on that. But I imagine this is also for Android tablets as well.
Hi Jerry, they have their use. I am glad that you also use a software editing program and actually produce your "own videos." These templates are too familiar and therefore, can eventually be ineffective at branding.
Dick, so proud of you! Love that you've jumped into Video Essentials for Your Business and that you're producing videos. Yes, this is for all Android devices. I too can't imagine editing on a cell phone - no thanks.
Hi Debb, just downloaded the Animoto app for Android. Thanks for the suggestion, I now have a tool to use when called on.
Best
Hi Debb, As always you have shared valuable information to make us better.
Debb: YAY for all of us who are happily on the Android train! As always, excellent information and a gentle reminder we all should be using video in our marketing efforts.
Debb,
This is excellent information as always. We agree with you about Dic's video. A
Hey Debb! I went back to read your post on Animoto videos for Real Estate. This is good stuff to be aware of, and I love that you took the time to review. You're like our consumer watch dog for this stuff. Either way, it appears that there is an application for every type of user and vice versa. I'm a do-it-yourself-er as you know, but I can see where these apps can come in handy.
Thanks for sharing your tips. I am far behind on the curve since I have not yet made any videos.
Be sure to have your camera in hand to record the special moments.
Adrian, good, glad it is of value to you. D
Hi Debb,
This sounds great! I've tried to video on my Android. It looks great on the phone but when I send it to my gmail account everything looks epileptic! I read your post and tried to download and install the software but I'm still having trouble. I guess I'll have to figure it out because it sounds great. It has to be me. I left to be left behind..
Debbie awww.
Hi Anita, cool. Glad you got the gentle hint. ;)
Silvia, the programs pretty much do it all for you. Easy!
A - thanks for the visit.
Hi David. Love that you'rw a do-it-yourselfer - and you do it well. Yeh, these apps have there place, but we should be do-it-yourselfers too. ;)
Roy, your photos more than make up for it.;)
Patricia - wonder why it's not downloading for you? Mmmn.
Thanks Debb, I should be signing up for the class since video is where I want to go.
Rachell - delighted to hear. Glad to have you - are you PC or Mac?
