Pay for teachers in El Paso is slightly above the state average. In a recent study by the Texas Association of School Boards found that the average teacher salary in El Paso during the 2006-07 school year is $44,941. The State average is $44,615.  The state average is up 6.9 percent from $41,743 last school year. . The state-mandated minimum salary for beginning teachers is $27,320. The El Paso Independent School District pays beginning teachers $39,100. These are still below the national average of  $46,597 for the 2003-04 school year (2005-2007 data has not been posted).
