71 Comments on Why would anyone say no to something that offers continuous business?
Thanks for the reminder that blogging works Mike. Lately mine hasn't been getting the desired results and it's easy to get discouraged when that happens.
Mike, They just need the patience and the willingness to learn what works, and then the diligence to execute the plan, and adjust as needed.
Thanks for slapping some sense back into me with the reminder to consistently blog. It only make cents!
Glad you had a great time at the conference!
Hi Mike, I would have cheered at the number of those that will never blog, as I will inherit that business. What did the speaker say next, after he asked for those that will never blog?
Mike, Inman really does a good job with the quality of there presenters, Haven't been in years so I appreciate the update! I guess I was a bit surprised by the numbers that said they would never blog. I guess we are spoiled from hanging around on AR.
Good stuff, thanks.
I know. I'm shocked. I'm finding the same thing here about local Realtors. I'm just keeping my mouth shut for now - until I get ahead - then I'll spill the beans.
I've heard good things about the Agent Reboot sessions. Congratulations on your blogging success
We are just starting blogging for our business and haven't seen any changes in business yet but I'm sure with time we will see the results. Most people just don't have the patience I guess.. or enough to say :)
I too resisted for a long time. Then finally jumped in and business has never been better!
Too often we get caught up in how long it will take and want a reason not to get the next sale. It sounds counterintuitive, but the more I think about it, the more I realize there is something in us that drives us to fail that we must constantly overcome.
My internet presence brings me phone calls and that's what I care about. Recently I've started to do one blog a day, about whatever is important to me that day that I can share. And the calls have increased. I must be doing something right, so I will continue.
Is it wrong for me to think that the LESS other agents are blogging the better it might be for us?!? A show of hands please . . . :-)
So ironic that I read your post regarding this topic today. My wife and I were just discussing this very topic this morning. Why someone would not consider taking this pro-active action on their own behalf ... especially when you can blog on so many sites at no cost ... puzzles me. And almost worse, why they would START blogging and not continue consistently or for the long haul?? Glad that I have found this outlet and catalyst for my business ... and that you have done so too.
Gene
Fernando, that would have been great. It was well attended. Maybe we can catch up next time something comes through the neighborhood.
Amanda, I guess that's why I finally started. It was that "what's the worst thing that can happen" question.
Richie, I think a lot of folks are at that same place. If you have a system that is working, it might be just as easy to skip it, especially if you're looking at a soon approaching retirement.
Joan, I think that's becoming a common thread. 8-)
Would have loved to have you join us, Cheryl.
I have those periods myself, Katerina. I've even thought about building up a database of drafts for periods like I'm currently in where it's getting harder and harder to blog.
Gary, AR is a great bang for the buck.
It does get easier too, Nan. Time is always the enemy of successful blogging.
Ginger, I find that it comes in waves. Sometimes my refferal network is doing all the work, and at other times my online presence is doing the heavy lifting.
Same here, Anthony. Not many, but some.
That's a growing thread, Scott. Probably true too.
Alan, I think you've nailed it.
Excellent, Deb.
That's good to hear, Beth. That's what it's all about.
Denise, I go through waves like that. No worries, though. It cycles.
Well said, Bliz.
It was just a tap, Barb. 8=)
Erica, it was fun. If they come to the neighborhood you should drop in.
Sandy, he didn't seem all that surprised. I was. 8=)
You are so right, Adrian.
That's a good plan, Melissa.
Brian, it was a day well spent.
You're probably right, SIG.
Good to hear it's helping your business, Fred.
Excellent, Hella. That's why we do it, right?
Mine is up, Carla.
You are right, Gene. It's easy fruit to pick.
Cheryl, maybe I can work some of the info into a couple of blogs. I'll see if I can't get the wife to share her notes with me. She's a veracious note taker. The best to you on the walk!
Mike, In the title insurance blog world it is much more difficult. At Family Abstract we try to wrap a story around all our postings to add character and interest. So far I feel like the old man at the wailing wall. the story goes like this...
In Jerusalem, she heard about an old Jew who had been going to the Wailing Wall to pray, twice a day, every day, for a long, long time. So she went to check it out. She goes to the Wailing Wall and there he is!
So she watches him pray and after about 45 minutes, when he turns to leave, she approaches him for an interview.
"Rebecca Smith, CNN News. Sir, how long have you been coming to the Wall and praying?"
"For about 50 years."
"What do you pray for?"
"For peace between the Jews and the Arabs. For all the hatred to stop. For our children to grow up in safety and friendship."
"How do you feel after doing this for 50 years?"
"Like I'm talking to a FREAKING wall."
Well done, Glenn.
