47 Comments on Can You Have Too Much Social Media?
I am focusing on AR and my own website (including blog). I do send most blogs I write off to twitter and post to facebook as it's quick and painless but I spend little time on most social media sites. Simply not enough time so need to prioritize. Regards Dave
If it works keep doing. If it doesn't stop. Every market is different and the way we get customer/clients varies from agent to agent.
The bulk of my business comes from my blogs and repeat/referral business. The only social media I use besides blogging is FB and my own network at short sale superstars. I don't have time for anything else.
Suzanne,
The amount of virtual interaction that I'm doing is becoming quite a chore. I too need to concentrate on what works to drive clients.

Do what works for you, not what others say will work.
Social Media? Which one(s) should you use? Use the platform that works for you closing transactions. As the new year approaches and you start developing your Business Plan for 2013, review where your sales came from in 2012. That should assist you in answering the question on Social Media.
Hey Suzanne! I say do what works for you. Facebook is a major part of our business, so that is where my focus is. Second is Active Rain, and third is the rest of them.
I tell my agents this. .
in this life, you can be on the stage or you can be the spectator. .
Spectators are the ones that are always checking their facebook. .
following those in the stage. .
who you want to be is up to you!
All my advertising is the Internet. I spend no money on print. Working on getting back into radio.
We sure can spend lots of time but ActiveRain works well and we all need to do what works for us. We cannot do a good job at all of the social media.
I am not a big fan of Facebook. In fact, it confuses me. Everybody else in the world seems to "get it" but me. So, I just stay away from it. I have a few things that post (drip or syndicate) there but I pretty much ignore it. Perhaps if I did not have the volume of business that I do, I'd pay more attention to it, but the truth is I don't have to so I don't. I prefer to write, so I gravitate toward blogging and articles.
Hi Suzanne, Like many said above, Active Rain and My Website get top priority. But, next would have to be Facebook, and now that I am beginning to make more videos, I would say that YouTube will be next. I remembered what Chad told us in IMSD classes. Become the master of one Social Media at a time, then you can move on to another one.
This is great feedback from everyone. I will return again to hear othes chime in....
I think you have the right idea in that what works for one, may not work for another, and whichever social medium seems to get your the largest payback, is the one you should spend your time on.
Great question, Suzanne! I think everyone needs to decide for themselves what works. I heard a talk the other day on "Engagement Marketing" where the speaker, Jeff Ferrazo from Constant Contact, pointed out that it doesn't take a lot of connections, "Likes," etc. from social media, it's using the media correctly with the contacts we have. Don't feel guilty, do what works for you.
I have been seeing a lot more referrals coming from the internet, mainly our website and my blog. But I do have the blog posts sent to FB, LI, and Twitter so they all interconnect. I haven't even gotten on Pinterest because I know I'd never get off - I love crafting, decorating, cooking... need I say more? LOL
Hi Suzanne, Yes I know exactly where you are coming from. How does anyone have the time to keep up with everything.. It gets crazy. I do the best I can, but there are days when I am lucky to have the time to check my tremendous amount of email. The rest have to take their turn. AR seems to be my first visit though everyday. Hopefully one of these days it may pay off! Great blog, thanks for sharing.
Pinterest is bringing me lots of followers and "interested parties" whereas Facebook gets me nothing. It is so much easier on Pinterest or even Google plus to increase your "group of followers" and/or exposure. Hopefully a lead will come from one of them soon.
Suzanne:
I like pinterest it is fun. But Facebook is the social media I concentrate on. I have only been on facebook for about 8 months. I hope it will bring me some business but nothing yet. I post once a day and check if I have any comments later in the day.
Definitely no facebook for me. I have a pinterest account and I like it because of the photos. I haven't spent much time on it. I cancelled my google plus because it wasn't doing anything for me or my business. Just a waste of time. Meeting people face to face is the best way to generate business, imo.
Susanne, we can't do it all and maintain our sanity. We need time for family, friends and ourselves. My opinion is that you should choose the social media that works best for you and business.
Hi!
While I don't mind having several lines in the pond, it's also important to direct my energy to those things that will or already have produced maximum results. Plus, work/life balance is crucial. And I still don't remember my Twitter password ;)
BTW - The check is in the mail :)
