Pain Of Discipline or Pain of Regret

I have this quote on my desk next to my computer so I see it everyday:

“Would you rather have Pain of Discipline or Pain of Regret”  

Ouch, that hurt!  I think I feel the pain now!  How can this little phrase hurt so bad?

I can apply it to so many areas of my life:
Mentally, Physically, Spiritually, Personally and Professionally

There is one emotion we should hope we never feel...Regret.  We need to be proactive in our thinking, in our goals and our dreams.  Don’t wait until it is too late.  Have a sense of urgency.

So let’s take this information and use it for our property management needs: (no waiting, lets do it now!)

I need to keep track  of my properties, tenants, owners, accounts.  Oh, and let’s not forget work orders, applications, bank accounts and more.  If I am unorganized for properties that I manage.  If I have unmanageable record keeping (shoe box style), and can’t remember where I put that tenant screening report or did that tenant pay his rent?  And by the way where is my coffee cup?
I am going to start feeling a little overwhelmed, discouraged and frustrated. I am feeling regret right now!

It is time to discipline myself to get organized in my business.  First thing I do?.....  That’s right, I find a reliable property management software.   I need to get my accounts organized now!   Then I will try to find my coffee!  

Will I feel a little pain while I am going through my pile of mess to organize my files?  Will I feel a little pain that I shouldn’t have let this get so out of hand?...  But this Pain will be of Discipline and not of Regret.

When I visualize the positive end result.  The better sleep I will have because I am no longer worrying. The organized record keeping and time management I will have for my business and owners. The organization I would have for my properties so the end result is quick turnaround time, which leads to lower vacancy rate and  more money earned for my business and the owners.  It will be well worth it!


So ask yourself:  Would you rather have “Pain of Discipline or Pain of Regret”
