Last week we blogged about Maui's economic recovery leading the neighboring islands in Hawaii thanks to steady improvements in retail, construction and the visitor industry. Real estate was also a factor, as we mentioned. Now that the numbers are in for August, from the Realtors Association of Maui (RAM), we have more specific information available. Although sales volume for single-family Maui County homes fell by 7.4 percent, prices went up by 26.8 percent. In August of last year, the median home price was $410K, and this past August, the median home price was $520K. There were 75 homes sold, compared to 81 in August last year.
