Blogging & Dieting: Why Does It Have To Take So Long To See Results?
Many of us have been at this blogging thing for awhile. We have attended classes to learn how to do write a better blog and how to be found in the searches. It can be frustrating at times when we don't see results even though we have been told it takes time. Read Carie's post below and you will get a chuckle as she answers the questions we all have. Is she reading our minds?
Each time I catch a glimpse of Mary Phillips Designs' whimsical notepads, they always make me smile. Naturally, these notepads were no exception. Not only did they give me reason to chuckle – they also reminded me of blogging. Why? Because nowadays, everything eventually reminds me of blogging. And, never before did I realize the distinct parallels between dieting and blogging. Until now.
Blogging And Dieting Are Typically NOT On Everyone's "Top Ten" List Of Favorite Activities. After all, they both require a significant amount of sacrifice, discipline, focus, and commitment. They both can be time consuming, tedious, and unpleasant. And, like dieting, blogging can sometimes feel like an unproductive exercise in futility – which is incredibly frustrating until convincing results finally begin to emerge.
I Want Instant Gratification ... Thank You Very Much. When it comes to dieting and blogging, we tend to have certain expectations. And, most of us would prefer to meet those expectations as expeditiously as possible. Yet, if we fail to achieve our goals quickly, does that mean we've made absolutely no progress at all? I don't think so. Usually, the fruits of our labor do not always appear in an effortlessly clear and obvious manner. Often times, we need to build up some serious momentum. More importantly, we must establish and develop a foundation on which to build future and continued successes. Rome wasn't built in a day, right?
Does This Really Have To Be A Part Of My Regular Routine? The short answer is, "Yes." As with good nutrition and maintaining a healthy weight, blogging seems to show more favorable outcomes when fitting into our normal lifestyle. Therefore, it only makes sense that blogging should become a crucial component of our business lives – performed on a consistent and persistent basis. I mean, why do most of us blog anyway? Increased exposure – in order for more people to discover us. If we don't blog, it's less likely that more people will discover us. Sounds like a "2 + 2 = 4" basic math equation to me.
Blogging Makes Me A Lot Happier Than Eating Carrot Sticks. Laughter is the best medicine, or so they say. These days, I appreciate anything that makes me laugh or lifts my spirits. Consequently, as with other challenges encountered every day, I approach the concept of blogging with humor and levity. In other words, I say what I need to say while simultaneously enjoying myself and having a little fun. Are any potential business contacts reading my blog? Will any readers of my blog turn into viable leads or professional connections? Of course, I sure hope so. In the meantime, I remain cognizant of one unmistakable, inevitable truth: When it comes to dieting and blogging, patience is definitely a virtue.
