If you're just starting out in the blogging world or if you have been doing it a while you still may be making these crucial mistakes. Check your blogs and make sure you are set up for success before throwing your nuggets of wisdom out into the world.blogging mistakes

1. Posting too inconsistently

If you only post once a month or post three in a week then nothing for several weeks, people can't rely on you for the information and you get swept under the rug. If you stay in front of people on a regular basis you will see more results on comments, subscribers and readers. Posting 2-3 times a week is a good basis for keeping the content fresh on your blog and keeping the readers interested. Too much will only bombard them with useless facts or opinons and you may find they start un-subscribing.

2. There's no call to action

Make sure you have links and information that allow readers to do something when they read your blog. If it's to consumers, make sure they have contact and subscribe buttons or search features in the signature. If it's to professionals, make sure there is a way for them to easily get a hold of you and don't make them hunt for your phone number, email or forms.

3. The blog is not connected to your website

If you have a website, and you should, there must be connections back to it throughout the blog. Also connect your website to your blog if you don't have a built in one with the website template. This could be a link on the menu that goes back to where ever your blog is, or a subscribe button on the site. From your blogs site, make sure you are using your keywords and phrases in the side bar links and in the signature. When you talk about something in the blog that you may have also written about on the website, link back to it and to various previous blogs. Visualize a web stretching from one place to the other back and forth.

4. You are not optimizing every facet of the blog

By putting your keywords and phrases at the beginning of the title, description and content will help the post get indexed faster and easier. Make sure your optimized titles are not just catchy but informative. Use questions or answers as the title and clearly define the post in the first 150 words of the content.

5. When and why you post is unprofessional

Post mostly in the morning for better exposure and make sure all your posts are not unprofessional rants. You must have the majority of your posts be about what you sell. It's ok to throw in the occasional personal post as long as those reading have no doubt who you are, where you are and what you do. Keep at least 70% of the posts about the business itself.

These are simple facts but once you get set up right, you can have a great foundation from which to blog on consistently. Know your audience and appeal to your readers. Blog on!
