Debbie - our previous home had the panel box labeled things like, "Martha's room," and "freezer." That was easy to figure out. This is impossible and a buyer of a new home should NOT have to figure it out.
They are going to have to call a private company Kathryn, owned and operated by someone who knows what he's doing.
OMG...it looks like someone was drunk when they did this. I hope they can fix this for her (and they should be required to).
Debbie - I think this was a sincere effort and the best that he could do. This is a problem...
Good for her to try and understand....but it would seem no matter what the native language, the labels were foreign.
Hi Jay,
Like you, we see panel boxes like this frequently. Licensed professionals are not created equal.
Hi Jay. What a nigjtmare to try to figure out! I'm glad your customer asked the question that started this investigation. How very dangerous!
Hi Jay,
You are as confused as me on this one. LOL
It's a good thing to "clearly mark the panel box with the proper breaker designation".
If this is not done correctly, then we are shooting in the dark looking for a shooting star to emerge.
Have a great day in Bristow my friend.
Best, Clint McKie
S&D - the labels are Martian. I need to take a couple of classes.
Sharon - that is true. The license means different things to different people, and every profession has its incompetents.
Linda - usually the box is a very easy explanation. Not so here!
Clint - and some of them, labeled or not, didn't do anything I could see!
There is a need for a well labeled electrical panel, but it is so rare to have an updated, complete labeling of all the circuits. Even if the labeling was understandable and labeled, I'd test to make sure. I hate to say it but I think that remodel contractors are the worst at updated the labels. Things get added and moved within the panel but the labels are not changed.
Thanks Jay!
Jay, The new homes I've sold this year have been labeled very well. The pre-owned and remodeled homes have the most deficient labeling of electrical boxes. Takes a lot of work to figure out what switch works what device/outlet.
Jay - Electrical panels are a frightening mystery to many homeowners, and proper labeling can go a long way toward solving that mystery. Unfortunately, the contractor on your job exhibited neither competence nor professionalism.
Tom - on new construction inspections they don't want me fooling with breakers or even taking the cover off the box. In this case I broke that rule.
Wayne - and it shouldn't have to! There should be no hunting or guessing!
John - this woman's husband always took care of those things and she truly did not understand the box. Now, later in life, it is necessary as she is alone. This was not the best "first" box!
Morning Jay opening mouth before looking over the situation. Glad to see things worked out well. Enjoy the day
I don't know that James! I left my client with the unit's managers! Who knows if this has been rectified!
Good morning Jay and WOW!!! Thinking someone needs to brush up on there English skills before moving on. Frustrating how these people even pass the State exams.
They pass them with help Randy. ANOTHER thing that bothers me greatly! If we were to move to Iceland they give you 18 months to learn the language enough to pass a written and verbal test. If you don't pass, you don't stay!
I've seen the misspelling way too often or no labels at all, which I feel is worse.
I had a box today half labeled Jim. This box is frightening - I can't figure out very much of it, or what some of the breakers even control.
i thenk thay hda sum spllein ishoos.
Reubs - amazing isn't it? This lady doesn't understand boxes to begin with and this is her introduction?
