When these sellers decided to divorce they were left with an upside down home and with neither party able to afford the home on their own. We listed the home as a short sale. A month later they decided to try to modify. Loan modifications are generally useless for divorcing couples as both will be forced to remain on the loan even through the modification, but some folks like to try anyway. We pulled the property off market and 5 months passed while my sellers discovered a loan modification wouldn't help them.
The property went back on market and six weeks later we secured a buyer for the property and all seemed well. Chase approved the short sale and it seemed we would be on our way to a closing...until inspections revealed major issues. The house became unfinanceable, and the buyer walked.
It took three more months in a stagnant market for us to secure a new cash buyer. Chase was not as quick to approve the short sale this time at the much lower new price. It took some pushing, but three months later Chase approved the short sale, and 2 weeks later....this 17 month journey was over!

You make the point of a Real Estate agent working for 17 months, but not getting paid 17 months worth of labor....professionals should get more respect and cooperation too. Well done here. As for Chase, well they live up to their name of what they do best.
It is great to hear that your perseverance paid off in the end. As Richie stated though, I am sure you got paid pennies for the time actually spent. :)
Ugh, I don't know how you do it. I would be very frustrated with a 17 month ordeal like that Minna, I thank the Lord we don't have short sales in Canada (yet).
They take forever lots of extra work sometimes I feel the hours involved would reap about 50 cents per if we are lucky... Glad it is over for you, hopefully the buyers will refer you to others ...

I can't imagine anyone or a buyer hanging in there this long period. Having one take six months recently was so emotional.
I'm certain I was actually in the hole on this one....but I like to finish what I start.

A true professional whose character is worth more than money...Well done (applause)
