National Dog week is just beginning and I am both happy and sad. I am happy because I have three great pups I love and who love me. I am sad because every day in shelters everywhere dogs languish and die waiting for someone to give them a loving and safe harbor. Pet stores thrive and support puppy mills who torture and abuse animals for profit. In countries around the world there are strays whose best hope for a good day is finding a bone in the trash. My heart hurts when I see these poor animals and my head tells me we can and should do better. Think about adopting a special friend from a shelter or rescue group near you and experience the joy that dogs bring each and every day.
This is like Mother's Day to me....EVERYday should be DOGS DAY according to my 2 hounds - Cici and Pico...they RULE and ROCK
Thanks for letting us know that this is National Dog Week - it makes me want to do something special for my two at home. I do wish people would adopt rescue animals instead of buying them.
If they'd just let me beat the crap out of people and lock them up without food when they abuse animals I'd feel better. I have never ever purchased a puppy (except for if you count what I pay to take them from the animal shelter). Rescues love you more anyway (i think).
OMG Sheila, your plea is heard. I agree with Tammy, I would love to lock up every person who hurts an animal and the best doggies are those from the shelter.
Good afternoon friends and thank you for stopping by and leaving your comments and offering your support. I really appreciate it.
Hi Wallace, I totally agree with you. That's the way my three feel too. Thanks for stopping by.
Hello Bud and Beth. Do something special everyday and encourage all your know to adopt.
Tammy, I am right there with you. But how do you really feel. On this we are kindred spirits and a rescued animal always knows they were saved.
Hi Joanna. We could start a beat the crap out of them club. Thanks as always for your support.
Sheila
Thanks for the note, Sheila. At times, my office has as many dogs in it as people (we're a pretty small technology startup), so I certainly can relate to your pain. I adopted my 8 month old puppy Tucker from a shelter, as did my co-founder Zvi, who has had his rescue dog Astro for 3 years now. It's important that we all do our part to help!
Hi Sheila, dogs need our help , my daughter is a "foster" mom to Labador's. She nurses them back to health
(some have been abused) until they find a family for them that are approved.
