One month ago I made what for me was a giant leap and bought a Macbook Pro and an iPad. I am loving it but glad I bought the "One to One" as it is quite a bit different than a PC. Our daughter has been working at the Apple store in Grand Central Station since they opened last fall and has been bugging me to make the transition. (She was the one who insisted on me getting the One to One; I think so she could have a life LOL.)
I had a rocky start as both my Dell printer and my ScanSnap will not work with a Mac. Tarina said that almost all devices work with a Mac but unfortunately we have the two that do not. She was surprised when she started asking at work and found out that Dell is the only printer that decided that they would not provide drivers for a Mac. Most Scansnap scanners are compatible but my particular Scansnap only has the directions in Japanese. That aside I am still loving my new Mac products.
I use to be a clicker but my mouse died at the same time as I got my laptop so I decided to learn how to use the multi-touch gestures. I figured my mouse dying must be a sign and just jumped in. I guess I'm getting use to the Mac multi-touch gestures as now when I get on a PC I find myself trying to swipe.
This last Friday I made the final conversion when I received my new iPhone 5. I had an Android which was the latest and greatest when I got it several years ago but for the last few months it has been giving me problems with dropped calls, phone not ringing etc. The funny thing is that my Android almost completely quit working about 4:00 Friday afternoon; the only thing I could get it to do was text. At 5:30 my new phone arrived just in time. Since I already had the iPad the conversion to the new phone was a snap. (It helped that my daughter talked me through getting it turned on but from there it was a snap.)
I think my favorite thing is that they all talk together. I always had trouble getting my outlook from my phone to my computer and my pictures from my phone to my computer etc. I LOVE the way these all work together. NowI don't even have to worry about Outlook as I'm using the Mac contact/email programs and liking it. I took some pictures of our grand kitty this morning with my new phone as she was helping me with my bible study and they immediately showed up on my computer! That is just way too cool!
I started using the iPad for my buyer's showings and WOW does that save me a bunch of time. It use to be that I would have to wait until I got back to the office to pull up the full tax report and archive records. That is not the case any longer with my iPad and the wonderful app that the Houston Association of REALTORS provides I can pull up those records while we are walking through the house.
I LOVE TECHNOLOGY and even though it is an ongoing learning experience I'm glad I made the move!!
