Stone House in Silver Spring - Northwood

I have a flat out, no holes barred love addiction for Stone Houses.  They can be all stone or just have some stone trim on them, doesn't matter.  I drive by this one a lot in my travels around Silver Spring.  It is located  in the Oldest Section of the Northwood Park Subdivision in Silver Spring.  It takes my breath away every time I drive by it.

The house was built in 1939 for Percy W LeDuc and his wife. Elsie  Percy LeDuc was a member and the designer/architect of the original 18 Hole Argyle Country Club Golf Course in Silver Spring (1937), which is now the 9 Hole Sligo Creek Golf Course.  In 1945 he designed the new Golf Course when Argyle Country Club relocated from Sligo Creek to Layhill Road.

The house was sold to the 2nd owners in 1987.

This house is NOT FOR SALE  - but maybe some day . . . In the meantime, I will just look at it as I drive by and sigh a lot.

That is a great looking home Debbie. I'm also a big fan of stone houses.  They just carry a certain amount of class with them don't they?  Love the pic!

Debbie, I share your love to stone houses! For me it started on my childhood, when I was growing up in a beautiful city with amazing architecture... Love your picture, one can feel history behind this home...

And as a side note, I keep thinking of the old fairy tale about 3 piglets, each of them building a house (one out of straw, one out of twigs, and the last one out of stone). Only the stone house protected the 3 little piglets against a bad wolf - so that's a go-to material, right? :)

Debbie, a very stately looking home. If it does go on the market will you be considering it as a possible purchase for yourself?

They don't build them that way any more, what a pity.  Hope it is occupied and some family is enjoying this gorgeous home.  Thanks for sharing.

Love it, I would call it 'stately'. For some reason I know what you mean, I find myself drawn to pictures of old doors, go figure.
