What To Look For When Buying An Orange County Home – Part 2

This year has been a great year for buying a home in the United States, especially in Orange County California, because of great interest rates which have opened the door for first time home buyers to get into great homes and for longtime homeowners to upgrade to bigger homes. In the third part of this three part series “What to look for when buying an Orange County Home”; we’re going to cover the finer points that a buyer must look for before they submit an
offer on a home.

Any good Orange County Realtor will tell you that you should evaluate the neighborhood that a home is located in just as much as the home itself. You’re going to be buying into a neighborhood just as much as you’re going to be buying into a home. As the adage says, “Location, Location, Location”.

When checking out a neighborhood it’s important to walk and drive around a neighborhood during the day and night and also look for the following things:

  • Do the homes show signs of pride of ownership?
  • Are the lawns and gardens well maintained?
  • Are the neighbors friendly?

Besides inspecting a neighborhood, you can also learn more about it online by reviewing the crime statistics for that neighborhood as well as looking for a calendar of events on the city’s website so you can stay involved with the community once you move there.

Think About The Future

One of the most important things that every top Orange County realtor will tell you is to think about the future before buying a home because, the home that you’re buying might not be practical and fit in with your plans. For example: a two bedroom home might not be practical if your family already has two children and one more is on the way or a four bedroom home might not be practical if you’re going to be the only person living there.
