Ponte Vedra Beach Realtor Barbara Jenness is the new president of the St. Augustine Regional chapter of the Women's Council of Realtors.
Jenness, a broker associate with Realty Executives of Ponte Vedra, who also has been a leading advocate for the creation of the Scenic & Historic A1A Coastal Byway, took over the 49-member organization today at its installation luncheon at Serenata Beach Club. She will serve for one a year and succeeds Berta Odom, the Council's 2006 chapter president.
Also installed today were the group's other 2007 officers: president-elect Amy Capo of ReMax Specialists; vice president-membership Janet Carey of Watson Realty Corp.; secretary Sharon Chambers of Southern Title, and treasurer Holly Yelton of Bank of America.
The Women's Council chapter in St. Augustine is part of a 245-chapter national association that dates to 1938. The St. Augustine chapter hosts meetings and conferences that promote professional education, home ownership and help women Realtors advance in their careers.
The chapter will resume its monthly meetings on Thursday, Feb. 1, at Carabbara's Italian Grill in the Cobblestone Village shopping center on State Highway 312 in St. Augustine. Additional information appears on its Web site, www.wcrstaugustine.org.
