The Moon Festival, MoonCake Festival, Zhongqiu Festival or better known as the Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated this Sunday!
中秋节
What is it?
This popular harvest festival is celebrated throughout the world and quite immensely in the Chinese and Vietnamese cultures. It is based on the “Rites of Zhou” which is a written collection of rituals of the Western Zhou Dynasty from over 3,000 years ago.
When it is held each year?
It is held on the 15th day of the 8th month in the Chinese (Lunar) calendar.
Is it a holiday?
In the Republic of China and Taiwan is it a public holiday.
What do you do on this holiday?
It is traditionally a time to eat mooncakes. Also a day of matchmaking, and finding partner. It is a time to carry lanterns, burn incense and watch fire dragon dances.

So take a moment and embrace celebrations that are revere in other parts of the world, and maybe even sample a mooncake or two!

I had no idea this festival existed, even though I'd heard of mooncakes before. We'll have to check out Ranch 99 this weekend.
Hey Bryan!
Or try out Marina Foods by Target. We ordered some less expensive ones from Lee's Sandwiches across from my office.
