Saturday, September 29th is a Day to Serve.... It is a regional and interdenominational collaboration between Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and The District of Columbia. For your state, check out the Regional Map of Day to Serve Events.

Governor Earl Ray Tomblin says that “West Virginia will join our neighbors from Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia to participate in a regional day of service this Saturday. I’m calling on all West Virginians to join in the effort—participate in a service project in your area or simply take some time to help others in your community."

On Saturday, September 29, Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity will be participating in Governor Tomblin’s Day to Serve.   Over 400 service projects have been set up around the state, including three at Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity build sites in Greenbrier, Pendleton, and Pocahontas Counties!

Come out and volunteer for Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity in Greenbrier County, and help build home(s) at Summer Elms Development, 892 Tuckahoe Road, White Sulphur Springs, from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm and help serve your community.  Email -Elisabeth McGuirk... EMcGuirk@almostheavenhabitat.org

“Our state has a longstanding tradition of community service. West Virginians know that together we can make a difference, and this Saturday, we will. Thank you in advance for your dedication to the Mountain State and your fellow West Virginians,” says Governor Tomblin.

Mark your calendars for your statewide day of service and begin planning ways to help in you local communities. September 29th will be a great day-through collective efforts to foster friendships, beautify our communities and lift spirits.

Rebecca: Events like a Day to Serve are vital to the areas we live in.  I hope you have a tremendous turnout and much is fixed, built, and/or cleaned up.

Rebecca

That's a very cool thing to do, and it's pretty impressive that it's done statewide. There are employers here who encourage something similar. Bet there will be lots of epople participating. And Habitat for Humanity is suchg a worthy charity.

Hi Rebecca, isn't it just a wonderful idea? The more States and people participate in a Day to Serve, the better - a difference can really be made.

Our local association has been organizing an event with Habitat for Humanity twice a year - 2 homes in the area are spruced up and/or repaired - I'm hoping to be able to participate next time around.
