Yes my friends, this is my now 17-year old son. Last week was his birthday. My family wanted to make sure that is was a really happy one. And nothing says joy like funny hats, masks and sundaes.
Mission Viejo had many great restaurants, but few are as fun as Ruby's Diner. Though this is a chain, it maintains high quality and is such an enjoyable place to spend an evening. Red vinyl seats, Formica table, a vintage train running around a track over our heads....this evening they even had a very talented balloon "artist."
My son...the true gourmet...had a plain cheese burger. Oh dear, some day his wife is not going to be happy with me.I ordered a great Southwest Burger with avocado, green chilies and chipotle mayo, served with sweet potato fries.
Not to worry....he did not wear the mask out, even though he's a huge Batman fan. This was part of a gift bag from my brother and sister-in-law. He was a good sport to wear it while eating his birthday sundae. Ok....he didn't actually eat the sundae, he had to scoop off the whipped cream and cherry first. Ugh...where did I fail him in the food department.
It was a fun evening of good food and family. Happy Birthday to Connor!
