On this day 235 years ago (September 27, 1777), the Capital of the United States was moved for a day from Philadelphia to Lancaster, PA - before moving on to York, PA and a few other cities before ever getting to Washington.
Probably not reported in textbooks anymore.

It took Mr. Washington time to find the right piece of property on which he could survey and lay out his city. The layout and placement of buildings has great significance, even their altitudes one to another. And yes, very Masonic.

And another little known historical fact, Annapolis Maryland was the capital of the United States for a short period of time as well.
