If Income Were Based On The Quality Of Our Work...Oh What A New Look!

Why do so many agents who work their business every day never think about their actions?  There are many agents who only focus on that “prize.”  We all know that every transaction has a variety of challenges and many of these challenges are not handled properly.

There are many issues that are temporarily resolved; just enough work is devoted to deliver everyone to the closing table so the “prize” will be awarded.  It’s never earned with this type of agent.  The agent rolls the dice and the odds are with the client not suing.  It takes money and time to sue, and it usually happens less often than it should.

This is a risky business, and many agents continue to “escape” the consequences of their out of control actions.  That great escape results in a shot of courage; a test they passed but should have failed; and the strength and fortitude to work their future risky deals in an irresponsible, careless manner.

There is no reason to be cautious when the thoughtless agent is rewarded for that unprofessional behavior.  The deals continue to be worked with as little effort as possible, and there are never any penalties or consequences for this type of undesirable conduct.  This is the debris we need to remove from our industry.

Barbara, I am actually seeing a trend in our area of agents doing a much better job. It is encouraging.

Barbara... this is the second post I've read from you regarding those that only do the "minimal" to get by. I can only guess that some co-brokes are not doing their job.

I wish we ALL could be compensated by the quality of the work that we do - some of us would have much larger incomes than our colleagues LOL LOL LOL

I think that this would be an interesting concept. I would like to see it play out in a book or movie.

This is a powerful post. It is something we should all ask ourselves, to stay in the legal box.

Hi Barbara.  Some times they are guilty of ethics violations.  It is incumbent on all of us to file charges.  It is the only way to get rid of the debris.

Oh I so agree! They do what they want and no one says a thing or even file a complaint. But, in my area I feel most agents are good hardworking people.

Barbara, Unfortunately there are those who are thoughtless agents who are rewarded for unprofessional behavior. We could probably write a book (well actually volumes) on these...

Barbara, it amazes me how some get under the radar continuously, and the unsuspecting client never knows that they've been hoodwinked. This is why we are often at the bottom of the heap when asked which professionals are most trustworthy.

It is one of the most frustrating parts of this business, in my opinion. Wish there were an easy, effective way to rid the industry of agents such as this.
