Richard, first of all...damn! You were this close and we didn't get to meet you, two Smoky Mtn admirers of yours. Oh well, there's always next time. Second...every morning I wake up and know how lucky we are to live in a place that others can only dream of visiting. Very fortunate indeed. I know you enjoyed the visit.
Hi Mona...
I had planned on giving you a call to meet for lunch but as usual, time became a precious factor as I worked three short sales in with vacation. I promise the next time I come through we will meet!
Good morning Richard -
Great shot. My parents went to the Smoky Mountains twice. They both loved it and Debbie and I have plans to head that way sooner or later. We'll be close very soon but this time it's not on the agenda I hope we find brilliant fall colors on our trip east.
Good morning Richard,
Beautiful photo and great post...one must be able to relax and unwind at "home base". Vacations are great, but if you dread going home then something is terribly wrong!
Good morning Richard,
As usual your photograph is gorgeous! The smokey mountains are beautiful and I remember thinking what a wonderful place to live when visiting. It's always good to get back home to family and friends and the lifestyle we have created here in Austin:).
My husband and I have been talking about moving but we have what you wrote "
We are often deeply rooted in our current communities, with jobs, schools, and proximity to friends and families. Even the thought of moving to a new location can be stressful and generate much anxiety and apprehension.".
All of our kids are here and grand-kids it is just to hard to move away. I don't get to see them enough as it is.
Richard, I would love to move, I used to love to move. But I am here, and I do love it here. There are so many wonderful places to live, how does one decide?
I am doing the next best thing, visiting, learning about life in other places I am not living in. Makes it almost bearable, LOL.
Richard, there is a big world out there...in good part, I think location controls life. Go for it- you only go 'round once.
Believe it or not, Richard, I think about this every day. I long to move to a place more "in the country" and am striving to make that happen. Waking up each morning in surroundings that don't inspire you gets old real quick.
What a beautiful photo, Richard. I'm lucky, I've lived in 28 different cities within five different states. My home in San Francisco, CA is all that I want it to be and while I visit most of my family back East as much as I can, I can't wait until I'm back home :)
Richard- beautiful shot and equally beautiful words to accompany it. When I first moved to FL from Houston I was terribly homesick and so busy focusing on what I was missing that I almost forgot to open my eyes to where I was. It was my neighbor who told me "root where you are planted." Those words stayed with me in all of my moves.
I always wonder of the people thaqt live in the greatest places take them for gratned as just another day in life.
So, I take it that you are moving? Have you decided that life would be better elsewhere? I can't imagine moving from Minnesota. And, only one of my siblings has.....to very near the Smoky Mountains.
