De-cluttering Your Brampton Property For Sale? Don't Forget The Exterior
It's popular today, (and this is a good thing), that before people put their properties up for sale there is a whirlwind of activity de-cluttering and 'thinning out'. Space makes a home much more appealing.
Just don't stop inside the property, take a look at the outside. Heavy landscaping, overgrown trees and shrubs that cover or block the front of the house give a drab feeling.
Did you know many buyers have already made their decision on your property from right out there at the curb? So clean up the front walk, move the basketball & hockey nets from the driveway and cut back any shrubs, plants or trees that cover the walkway. Pull out any dead or dying plants and replace them with fresh seasonal flowers.
Trim back or remove any trees that have become so large they block the front window. Your property will look so much more inviting if you let the sun shine in!
Look at the difference the removal a big tree makes:

Just a side note: the new owners also changed the siding and windows, but we are looking at the difference cutting back the landscaping makes.
While your outside, pull those recycling boxes in the garage or hide them in a shed. Check the driveway, does it need a new coat of black top? What about the front & garage doors, would a fresh coat of paint brighten the exterior look?
Every little thing you do, can mean more money in your pocket.
Whether you are de-cluttering to sell or just to enjoy your home more, don't forget the exterior!

Great change. Just removing the tree made a world of difference.
Al/Peggy: In the hustle and bustle to get a home ready to show the exterior is often overlooked....it should get the same quality attention the interior gets.
We always talk to owners about the outside appeal. Its amazing the difference the removal of shrubs and bushes can make Chris & Dick.
It really is important Anita as you know. Buyers are driving neighbourhoods and make decisions from the street.
The exterior is the first thing a buyer sees when they arrive at the home..............very important!
Al & Peggy - Excellent advice especially since the exterior is the first impression.
Good morning Al & Peggy,
I couldn't agree more! I always tell my sellers to start on the exterior..we need to have that ever important curb apeal to get them into the house and the interior done to keep them there!
Al & Peggy, having a de-cluttered exterior to an absolute, as you will have potential buyers driving neighborhoods and LOOKING for a home! Great advice!
Hi you two, critical to declutter the exterior-no need for extra chairs, tables, trash, just the bones of the house will do thank you!
Absolutely right Al and Peggy!
Basic info but so important! What an amazing difference in the pictures!
Al & Peggy, curb appeal is also very important. I've had clients who didn't want to go inside of a listing just because of the way it looked on the outsied...even though the interior was very nice. It's got to be the whole package.
Al and Peggy when I see the words de-clutter I think of the inside of the house, but you are right it needs to be done to the outside as well.
Al and Peggy. What a difference!!! I couldn't see the front door in the first photo but take away some of the overgrown greenery and the house is suddenly visible. It is good to think of this as clutter as it is easier to get rid of than live plants.
Excellent advice! The removal of those trees made a huge difference. The last thing you want buyers thinking is that the house has not been maintained and cared for!
