Who do you trust? MDAA

Stuff like this gets signed into law while most people just focus on gay marriage and amnesty for illegal aliens....something that affects all of us gets ignored.

This and some of the provisions in the Patriot Act.  We all need to be made aware of what our government is supposedly doing in our name. While I'm not putting all the blame on Bush, it's important to note that we willingly went along with this stuff for years so we could be kept 'safe.' And once that 'toothpaste is out of the tube, you can't put it back in' is the problem.  It is very difficult to curb the power in the Executive Branch after it's been granted. 

A camel nose in the tent doesn't stop there.  What stops the definition of "terrorist" from being expanded to someone, who, for instance, publishes a free enterprise blog?

Congress has been abdicating their responsibilities for decades...I think they want to allow the Executive to make the tough decisions and then they are free to criticize those decisions if the opportunity presents itself. The war in Iraq being the perfect example.

And I think Jay is exactly right. Leaving it up to the executive branch to determine who is and who is not a terrorist is, to me, one of the most dangerous propositions in the NDAA.

Kenneth - When I got wind of this two years ago, I was so upset. We Americans need to stand up to this and fight for our liberties back. You should see what the internal memo called possible domestic terrorists!

Just seems like Washington is beyond fixing any more.  Incumbents manipulate their sheeple constituents by promising them free stuff and the sheeple buy into it.  Us people with at least some brains cannot get out voices heard.
