Do you ever stop and consider how systematically impractical your storage is? Don’t feel bad. Most Americans are right there with you.

Have you ever toured a gorgeous home with tons of cabineted ‘storage’, a line up of pretty cabinets smugly content on their silent hinges?

Stop and consider this. Have you ever been to someone’s home that has a walk in pantry with open shelving, a place where all the stuff can be seen at once?

When the ‘where are the stewed tomatoes?’ moment comes in the heat of a panicked dinner preparation which would serve you better? Though most modern homes do not have what used to be called a larder, it actually makes a lot of sense.

Thus the garage storage so many of us have turned to! Our in-home cabinets just don’t accommodate the zealous Costco trip. We store all kinds of stuff in our garages now, which our grandmother’s generation would not have done. Any place will do, but open shelves enclosed somewhere make a lot of sense for everyday living.

It would be interesting to hear some of the ingenious storage solutions you have seen or use in your own home to make life easier. Chime in!

We store way to much for some reason. My sister has been paying on a storage space for so long, I swear there has to be a Mercedes 450SL in there.
