Congratulations to Ohio Alleycat Resource For 250 Cat Adoptions in 2012!

Ohio Alleycat Resourse & Spay/Neuter Clinic of Cincinnati Ohio
Meow meow meow, meow, meow meow meow ME-OW!!!!

Translated that means the volunteers at Ohio Alleycat Resource & Spay/Neuter Clinic TOTALLY ROCK!!!

A major milestone was reached yesterday as they hit their 2012 annual goal of 250 cats adopted 3 months early!  In fact, with Wyatt and Whitney both getting forever homes yesterday they actually hit 251!

So does this mean they'll kick back and bask in the limelight?  No way says this group of kitty lovers!  There's still lots of cats to adopt out, so the new goal is 300 by year end!  And if anyone can nail that goal, it's this group of dedicated kitty krusaders!

EVERY day, and we mean EVERY day, there are volunteers visiting O.A.R.'s shelter and clinic in Cincinnati.  Cats don't know the difference between Christmas and Hannuakah and Thanksgiving and.....  kitties got NEEDS!!  Food, water, uhhh....kitty treasure removal from the litter boxes, health checks, etc.  EVERY day.

Volunteers meet those needs.  And it doesn't stop there!  Scheduling, taking care of the cats, foster care for cats, attending weekly adoption events at places like Petsmart, fundraisers, catching feral cats, fixing thousands of them a year across a multi-county area to try to address the root of the problem, the efforts just don't end!

Again, these folks totally ROCK!
How can you help?  LOTS of ways!

  • Adopt a cat or two or three....
  • Volunteer (cleaning, feeding, petting)
  • Foster care for kittens
  • Fundraising (auctions, bowling and other events throughout the year)
  • Donate supplies (cat food, newspapers, litter and a host of other items)
  • Donate money

So for more information on what you can do to help, just visit the Ohio Alleycat Resource website (click the link) or call 513-871-7297 or email info@ohioalleycat.org or find them on Facebook  (Ohio Alleycat Resource & Spay/Neuter Clinic.

Can you join us in helping O.A.R. continue to help the community?

And once again, kudos to the kitty people at O.A.R.!  250+ cats adopted is a HUGE accomplishment!

Dorie, Outstanding work by this non-profit group!  Lots of people working together for the greater good.

Anita, There is plenty left, so that 300 goal is reachable!  They've added so new locations for weekend adoption opportunities, and you just never know where the next adopter will come from!  Maybe we'll get lucky and send some more there with this post :

Toni, They're doing outstanding work!

Bliz, while I'm not a cat person, I love to hear good news of pets being adopted. I am a dog owner and cringe to think of anyone putting down my beloved pet. Thank you for posting these encouraging stats. Congratulations to the staff who work so hard to make all this happen.

Tammie, We have an adopted Chihuahua, a passel of kitties that found us, and now we're helping out by fostering kittens for OAR and Liz also does weekend adoption volunteer time at Petsmart.  The kittens in the picture spent about 4 weeks with us while they grew up and learned to play/trust us.  Saturday they went back to the shelter to become available for permanent adoption.  We hope they all find permanant homes soon.

That is so awesome BLiz...I am on my way to being a Foster mama for those kitties with all them needs here in San Antonio TX.  There are so many kittys that need homes and help so glad that there are places like O.A.R to help out when needed!

Brenda, Cool!  Thanks for helping out!

Tammy, We're at max capacity for permanent residents, but we can do the temporary fostering, even though it's tough giving them up after 4-5 weeks in our home.  The D sisters were VERY sweet little kittens.  Loved attention and we're fun to have.  But if they stay with us, they're one of many, vs. a new home where they'll get more individual attention.

Juli,  We received great news last night!  The kitten on the left that we fostered got her new forever home last night!  We'd just dropped off Dolly and her two sisters (Dana and Dottie) on Saturday after about 4 weeks at our home for fostering, and three days later she's done :)  We knew with her longer hair and sweet personality she'd have a good chance to go quickly.  Now we just hope someone adopts her sisters soon!

Lisa, It is pretty cool, and now they're well on their wall to that 300 goal!  We also have a rescue Chihuahua as part of our permanent home crew :)

Endre, Terrific folks that believe strongly in their work.  Each year they'll have an increased impact.
