This past week I was in Carmel-by-the-Sea and all I heard was: everyone is waiting for the election to be over with and then (put in your favorite line here).

Who was saying this? THOSE WHO WERE TRYING TO SELL SOMETHING.

In my mind, that just didn't compute. That was just an excuse NOT to sell something. After all, "buyers" (translate "visitors") were still coming to Carmel. The restaurants (the GOOD ones) were filled to overflowing. In fact, the number of restaurants have INCREASED recently, the GOOD ones that is.

Same in Carmel Valley where I spent the weekend. (See my last blog.) Shops, those that were marginal to begin with, have been replaced with WINE TASTING ROOMS. The GOOD restaurants and hotels? They were still there and doing quite well, thank you.

SO HERE IS WHAT I LEARNED:

You have to be THE BEST YOU CAN BE and they will come, and they will COME NOW, not some "pie in the sky" future date.

And that includes real estate. The GOOD properties PRICED RIGHT will SELL NOW.

AND WHO WILL SELL THEM?

The savvy brokers and agents who recognize that you need a GOOD PRODUCT. And it has to be in a good LOCATION. And you cannot just sit around and wait for customers to come to you.

YOU HAVE TO BE PROACTIVE - YOU HAVE TO PUT YOURSELF OUT TO BE THE BEST - AND BE THE BEST.

And, to prove further that not everyone is sitting on their thumbs waiting,  the Carmel Art & Film Festival is coming up October 10 - 14, 2012. www.carmelartandfilm.com

Well if folks wait until after the election and it goes the wrong way they are really screwed. I suggest they just get out there and get busy.

Here's hoping it doesn't go the wrong way and we are not all screwed! People are out and about, even in the Real Estate Market! Cute restaurant and it looks packed! Have fun at the film festival.

Folks are talking about the Presidential election for good reason.

Clint's movie, "Trouble with the Curve" was outstanding a must see.
