You've Got Mail - The End

By

Ok, I'll recap the rest of my movie watching/mailing prep a little quicker.  (Matt and I closed on our vacation condo last week - and now I want to write about THAT.)

On day #3 I updated my mailing list… That’s a constant task when my JOB is to help people change addresses.  I only made it about 3/4 of the way through the movie before some past clients arrived at my house to go out for the evening.

On day #4 I watched YGM three times - back to back to back.

During the second viewing of the day, I decided that if I could re-write the ending - when Kathleen first sees Joe in the park – rather than having Joe give her a shy, apologetic shrug; I would have him declare in a tone used to convey irony, “NY152 IS my address.”  And, then Kathleen would laugh, a relaxed, relieved laugh, bend over slightly to regain her composure, and then run into his arms.  That being said, the movie’s great as it is.

And then it was the day before we left for Florida - and I just wanted them DONE.  I didn't care about my movie-watching ethic any more.  At midnight (the night before a 7:50am flight) I begged Matt to help me stuff and stamp the remaining envelopes.  We did not watch YGM.....  I'm sorry.

The next morning - I called my sister from the airport to see if she would kindly break into my house, grab the bag full of my beautifully put together mailings - and drop them off at the post office.  (Because, I didn't leave myself enough time to actually MAIL them before we left.)  I'm pretty confident the DVD player on the back of her headrest played Bolt, and not You've Got Mail.  What can I say?  I think the romantic irony would be lost on my 18 month old nephew.

So while I was in Florida playing BUYER instead of REALTOR.... 250 lucky people were greeted by me when they went to their mailboxes.

Coming Soon:  why Matt and I would have made for good HGTV House Hunters... and why I bought a condo painted a hideous green.

Congratulations on the Florida purchase. Where is the condo located. Used to live in Chicago. Made the Florida choice 37 years ago. Haven't regretted it.
