National Night Out in Riverside, Texas Was a HUGE Success!
Never in my mind did I doubt that it would be. We LOVE our Volunteer Fire Department!! We ADORE our Sheriff and the Walker County Sheriff’s Office!! So to expect a GREAT turn out for National Night Out in Riverside, Texas -- was a given.
Children (and adults) enjoyed a visit with Smokey the Bear, a cupcake walk, and fishing.
Attendees were treated to hot Frito-Pie, soft drinks, and cookies. Many folks (including me and The Princess Mama (TPM) won some GREAT door prizes, and best of all -- we got to hang out with the great men and women that work together to protect our community.
In the photograph below you will see some of the volunteers for the Riverside Volunteer Fire Department. There are several that are missing from the photograph due to work and illness. But don’t you agree that this is a HUGE Volunteer Fire Department for a town of 510 people?!
If you noticed that some of those faces look a little young, you’re right! Those are our JUNIOR Firefighters and OUR FUTURE!
If you were unable to attend National Night Out this year, I hope that you will take a moment this week to hug a firefighter, thank a sheriff deputy, or shake an EMT’s hand. Without them, where would we be?
Riverside, Texas
A great place to call home!
